Morgan + Ryan: San Diego Wedding
Growing in San Diego, I always get the warm fuzzies when I get to visit home to capture someone’s special day. These two are the cream of the crop, guys. Morgan and Ryan are just so fun and their wedding day was an absolute blast. They were surrounded by so many loving family members and friends at their religious wedding ceremony. I must say, their reception was one rocking party. It was held at the most beautiful venue. They had Mexican food, delicious cake, lots of dancing and a few awesome surprises. Morgan’s siblings had written out their toasts in song form. Not just any song form — DISNEY SONG FORM (which is my favorite kind)! They sang their well wishes to the bride and the groom, and it was epic!
It was an absolute honor to get to know these two over the course of their engagement and their wedding day. After their wedding day, I asked Morgan a few things to share with all of you! Here is what she had to say:
How did you and Ryan meet?
Ryan and I met in an introduction to business class in fall of 2016. Weirdly enough, neither of us knew what we wanted to do in terms of our majors but both just kind of took that class for the experience. Yeah, I definitely knew I did not want to go into the business major but something just sort of drew me to take the class. Ryan and I got put in a group for the entire semester where we worked on lots of assignments and projects together. Nothing really happened at first. We just did our work in a group and he made me laugh and I thought he was super cute and smart. We had this group text to discuss assignments. One day, he texted me individually and asked if I had completed my part of the assignment. Honestly, I just thought he was texting me because he had no faith that I would get it done! We eventually began texting more, having one-on-one study sessions, and later going on some dates. Eventually we started dating.
Who made the “First Move?”
He made the first move TECHNICALLY, but I just want to point out that I went in for the kiss first.
How did you know he was the one?
I knew he was the one by the way he made me feel. Once I started dating him, I became so much happier. I went home for a break and had multiple people telling me that I just looked so good and happy. I knew it was Ryan, and I am so lucky I snagged him.
Tell us about your proposal story!
The way Ryan proposed to me was SO cute. As a Valentines Day gift the first year we were dating, I gave him a cheesy little coupon book. It had everything from an ice cream date to me having to call him any funny name he chose for a whole day. To be honest, we completely forgot to use the coupon book. A year and a half later at the end of our spring semester in Idaho, Ryan decided we were going to have a whole day where we did everything in the coupon book. To fulfill his coupon of going on a nature walk, we went on a little evening hike at this place called Cress Creek Trail. It was absolutely beautiful. We got up to the top of the trail right before the most gorgeous sunset I have ever seen. We sat out on this big rock overlooking the Snake River. All of a sudden, Ryan pulled something out from his pocket and I saw this drone flying out of nowhere. There he proposed, and our friends were at a nearby lookout point getting it on video! Remember that coupon about me calling him any name he wanted me to for a whole day? Well, the cutest part is that Ryan said something along the lines of, “For that last coupon, how about instead of calling me something for a day, why don’t you call me your husband forever?” WOW SO CUTE I LOVE HIM.
What is your favorite thing about Ryan?
My favorite thing about my husband is that he makes me feel so special! Whenever I’m going through a hard time, he drops everything to help me feel better and I definitely don’t deserve him.
What was the best part of your wedding day?
The best part of our wedding day was being with everyone we loved. There’s really nothing like being surrounded by so many people you truly care about!
Where did you find your wedding dress?
I found my wedding dress at OffWhite Bride in Sandy, Utah. 10/10 highly recommend. I knew it was the one for me the moment I tried it on.
What is the best marriage advice you’ve received so far?
The best marriage advice I’ve received so far actually comes from a family stress and coping class I took as an elective a few semesters ago. My teacher taught us this really good phrase: “the purpose of the task is to strengthen the relationship.” We discussed how sometimes doing things like household chores together can be frustrating when you have different methods of doing things. But, we need to keep things in perspective and remember that everything we do can strengthen our relationship with our spouse. We need to enjoy our responsibilities together!
What advice do you have for future brides?
A piece of advice I have for future brides is to NOT STRESS on your wedding day. Just enjoy every minute of it. Little things will go wrong, but they do for everybody. Heck, I literally forgot my wedding dress on the way to the ceremony. But, it all worked out perfectly and I’m so glad that I could just focus on being with family and with my husband that day!
